Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Interior has announced that there are still 49,331 displaced people (25,831 women and 16,331 children) who have not yet been able to return to their homes.

According to the press release on the situation of displaced people and the impact on civilian areas, from 6 a.m. on March 1 to 6 a.m. on March 2, 2026, the Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Cambodia stated that since the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand became effective on December 27, 2025, both parties have not engaged in armed conflict. However, Cambodia has continuously monitored and recorded dishonest activities by the Thai side.

The Ministry further stated that Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has informed the United States about the dishonest actions of the Thai military, especially the deployment of container ships and illegal encroachment on Cambodian territory in many places beyond the border line that Thailand itself has long recognized as Cambodian sovereignty.

The Ministry clarified that “Among the total displaced population of more than 640,000 people, nearly 600,000 or over 92% have returned to their homes. There are still 49,331 displaced people (25,831 women and 16,331 children) who have not yet been able to return to their homes.”

The Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Cambodia strongly supports the government’s firm protest against the continuous dishonest activities of the Thai side, especially the movement of Thai naval vessels into Cambodian maritime territory, the arrest of three Cambodian citizens, and the seizure of their fishing boats.
