Phnom Penh: Minister of Mines and Energy Mr. Keo Ratanak stated that the electricity supply in Cambodia is not a concern at all and can guarantee sufficient usage without price increases due to the correct policies of former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and continued by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
After attending the ASEAN-Cambodia Business Summit 2026 on March 4, 2026, Mr. Keo Ratanak said that Cambodia is a country with a major achievement in green energy, while among ASEAN countries, only Cambodia and Laos have a high rate of green energy in their national grid.
The minister added that in 2025, Cambodia’s green energy reached 63%, and in 2026 it is expected to rise to 67%. Additionally, Cambodia has plans to reach 70% by 2027, which is a high green energy rate globally, not just in the ASEAN region.
He further stated that due to the correct policies of Samdech Techo from the past and continued by Samdech Thipadei, the current oil situation allows citizens to stay home and operate factories with confidence that electricity prices will not increase. This is also because Cambodia has hydropower as a main source, solar power, additional electricity connections from Laos, and is developing other sources such as gas-powered plants in Koh Kong, which the company of entrepreneur Keat Meng is building and preparing to operate in 2027. It can be said that Cambodia’s national energy security is not lacking.
