Ministry of Environment takes legal measures against a company in Takeo province after releasing smoke that harms the environment

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Environment has taken legal and technical measures against Remstex Fashion Co., Ltd. in Takeo province for releasing smoke that harms the environment and the living conditions of the people.

On March 4, 2026, the investigation team from the General Directorate of Environmental Protection and the Environmental Impact Assessment Department, led by Mr. Chap Yuth, Deputy Director, with participation from the Head of the Takeo Provincial Environment Department and the administration of Rokakphos Commune in Donkeo City, conducted an inspection at the location of Remstex Fashion Co., Ltd., located in Ta Do village, Rokakrao Commune, Donkeo City, Takeo province. The company was reported by residents to cause smoke pollution affecting their living conditions.

Following the direct inspection, the Ministry of Environment issued the following enforcement measures against the company:
1- Immediate cessation of all waste burning activities of any kind within the factory premises from now on.
2- The company must face administrative penalties in accordance with Article 826 of the Environmental and Natural Resources Code and Inter-Ministerial Declaration No. 1070 regarding administrative penalties by the Ministry of Environment for violations of Articles 156, 161, and 173 of the Environmental and Natural Resources Code.
3- Request for a permit letter to release air pollutants and waste ash.
4- Prepare an environmental monitoring investigation report and pay the environmental protection donation fund as stipulated in the environmental protection agreement as a penalty.
