Phnom Penh: On the occasion of the New Year! His Excellency Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, wished all citizens a safe and happy journey to their hometowns to reunite with their families during the Songkran New Year.
On the morning of April 13, 2026, Prime Minister Hun Manet said on Facebook, “On the occasion of the Khmer New Year, I wish all my grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins traveling to their hometowns to reunite with their families safely and happily in the New Year’s festivities. In particular, I wish them good health, strength, longevity, and success in all their tasks.”
At the same time, the Prime Minister also sent his condolences to all the soldiers who are still stationed at all locations and on their missions everywhere, including the aunts, uncles, and cousins who are refugees currently staying at temporary homes. May they be happy, safe, and in good health. And the four blessings should not be separated.
Please note that every year, Cambodians both at home and abroad always celebrate their traditional New Year with joy and a spirit of close solidarity to welcome the new year in accordance with national traditions. The traditional Khmer New Year will be held for 3 days from April 14 to 16, 2026.
