UN: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the resumption of talks between Washington and Tehran was highly likely.

“The indications we have are that there is a high probability that these talks will resume,” Guterres told reporters at UN headquarters.

He said he had met with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday, without giving further details.

Pakistan hosted the latest round of talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad over the weekend. Although the two sides were unable to reach an agreement, Guterres continued, “I believe these negotiations must continue,” noting that it is unrealistic to expect such complex and long-standing issues to be resolved in the first round of negotiations.
