Foreign: According to RT, a US-Israeli war on Iran could push regional repair costs in the Middle East to a total of $58 billion, with oil and gas fields alone accounting for up to $50 billion, according to an analysis published by energy research firm Rystad.
However, the report stressed that the main obstacle is not funding but limited global capacity to supply key engineering equipment and services, which could delay repairs for years.
Rystad’s estimate is a sharp increase from the initial forecast of just $25 billion the company issued three weeks ago, reflecting the broader scope of damage before the April 8 ceasefire between the US and Iran.
The repair work does not create new capacity. It diverts existing capacity, said Rystad senior analyst Karan Satwani, and the diversion will be felt in project delays and into a high inflation in the Middle East.
The total repair cost is likely to average around $46 billion, with refining and petrochemical assets accounting for the largest share due to the size and complexity of all the damage, Rystad said.
