Foreign: Oil prices fell about 11 percent on April 17 after Iran’s foreign minister said passage for all commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz was open for the remainder of the ceasefire and US President Donald Trump said Iran had agreed not to close the strait again.
According to The Straits Time published on April 18, 2026, crude Brent fell $10.42, or 10.48 percent, to $88.97 a barrel after hitting a record low of $86.09.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fell $11.48, or 12.12 percent, to $83.21 a barrel after hitting $80.56.
