Foreign Affairs: According to RT, the speaker of the Iranian parliament and also the top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said that Iran will not accept US pressure. He stressed that there was progress in the talks, although fundamental issues remained unresolved.
Recalling the first round of US-Iran talks in Islamabad, which took place last weekend in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.
Following the talks, US President Donald Trump announced the closure of Iranian ports and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which handles about 25 percent of the world’s crude oil trade.
On Friday, Iran opened the waterway to all commercial ships, describing the move as part of a ceasefire arrangement linked to a ceasefire in Israel and Lebanon and efforts to de-escalate the region.
However, The strait was closed again the next day after Trump said the US blockade on Iran would remain in place until a peace deal is reached.
“We will stand until the end,” Ghalibaf said in a televised address broadcast on Sunday morning.
He reiterated that the delegation had gone to Islamabad “in good faith but amid deep mistrust” and stressed that Tehran remained prepared for war if necessary.
