Mr. Keut Rith: Law enforcement officials must strengthen their strictness in implementing laws against technology fraud.

Phnom Penh: To ensure the effectiveness of the implementation of the law on combating fraud through technology systems, Mr. Keut Rith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, has requested that all courts and prosecution organizations supporting courts strengthen their strictness in implementing the law.

On the occasion of leading a meeting to promote the law on combating fraud using technology to law enforcement officials in the justice sector on April 21, 2026, Mr. Keut Rith said that strengthening the strictness in implementing the law on combating fraud using technology must be done by providing full and comprehensive cooperation to competent authorities related to combating fraud using technology and implementing the law correctly and strictly.

He said that prosecutors and deputy prosecutors must be prepared and strengthen their key roles in leading and coordinating operations with thoroughness, rigor, and correctness in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.
He added that they must strengthen their rigor in implementing the law on combating cybercrime, both in strictly punishing offenders and in collecting and confiscating assets resulting from cybercrime, in order to contribute to implementing the campaign to clean up cybercrime, which is the policy agenda and unwavering commitment of the Royal Government of the 7th term of the National Assembly.

Please note that the Law on Combating Technology-Based Fraud was promulgated by Royal Decree dated April 6, 2026. This law aims to define criminal measures to enhance the effectiveness of combating cybercrime, to contribute to the preservation and protection of public security and order, and to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in combating this crime.
