Phnom Penh: Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, said that Cambodia has achieved three major achievements: zero deaths from malaria, zero drug resistance, and zero malaria of all types by the end of 2025.

On the occasion of presiding over the celebration of National Malaria Day on April 25, 2026 under the theme “Commitment to End Malaria: Now We Can and We Must” on April 22, 2026, Professor Chheang Ra said that the National Malaria Center must continue to strengthen collaboration with the private sector, partner organizations and relevant ministries to promote the implementation of the “One Health” policy.

The minister also called on all provincial and inter-sectoral administrations to work closely together to implement the work for better results.

The professor highlighted Cambodia’s significant achievements in reducing infectious diseases Through the implementation of national strategies and strengthening the health system. He said that this success stems from the government’s investment, the implementation of the “One Health” strategy that links human, animal and environmental health, and the active participation of all, which has made the community aware, prevent the transmission of diseases, and receive health services in a timely manner.

Please note that there have been no new cases of malaria in Cambodia since the 8th. September 2025 to present 2026 and is the first country in the Greater Mekong Subregion to achieve the planned target ahead of schedule, without changing the time plan. The National Malaria Control Program has achieved the three strategic plan goals, including: 1. Ending artemisinin resistance by 2015, as planned, 2. Ending malaria deaths in 2018 ahead of schedule by 3 years and 3. Malaria cases in the country have dropped to zero in the last quarter of 2025, according to the plan.
