Phnom Penh: In the first 2+2 strategic dialogue between Cambodia and China, the two sides agreed to upgrade the 2+2 dialogue to 3+3 with the participation of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior and the Chinese Ministry of Public Security in response to the increase in bilateral cooperation and the development of regional and international situations.
This is according to the results of the first 2+2 strategic dialogue between the Foreign Ministers and the Defense Ministers of Cambodia and China on April 22, 2026 in Phnom Penh, released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia.
This first dialogue is an important event in Cambodia-China relations, reflecting the joint determination of the two sides to strengthen strategic coordination and promote the building of a Cambodia-China community of shared future in all seasons. In the new era.
The two sides noted with great satisfaction that the Cambodia-China comprehensive strategic partnership continues to develop with clarity, direction and ambition, demonstrating greater resilience and maturity, and reaffirming the strong “iron friendship” between Cambodia and China based on mutual respect, trust and unwavering support for each other’s core interests.
In this regard, Cambodia strongly supports the Belt and Road Initiative as well as President Xi Jinping’s four global initiatives on development, security, civilization and governance.
The dialogue reflected the common views of the two countries on political issues. security, economy, as well as regional and international issues. In this regard, the two sides stressed the importance of maintaining high-level visit exchanges, strengthening inter-institutional relations, and promoting coordination among ministries and institutions of the two countries.
The two sides agreed that the “2+2” mechanism will serve as an important platform to deepen strategic relations, enhance policy coordination, and jointly respond to emerging challenges in their respective countries, the region, and the world.
The two sides also agreed to upgrade the 2+2 dialogue to 3+3 with the participation of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China in response to the growth of bilateral cooperation and the development of regional and international situations.
