Cambodian-Chinese diplomats express firm commitment to further strengthen political and national defense ties

Phnom Penh: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhonn and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi have strongly committed to further strengthening political, defense and other areas.

The commitment of the two sides was made in a bilateral meeting on the morning of April 23, following the successful organization of the first meeting of the “2+2” strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers and defense ministers of the two countries in Phnom Penh on April 22.

According to Mr. Prak Sokhonn’s Facebook page, the two sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to further strengthen cooperation in politics, defense, security and economics, and continue to strengthen strong political trust and steel-like friendship between Cambodia and China. 

The discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in key areas, including: political and security affairs, trade, investment, infrastructure development, agriculture, efforts to combat cybercrime, and enhancing people-to-people ties. 

At the same time, the two foreign ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern, including respect for international law and the resolution of the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.
