Tomorrow, the Royal Government and more than 5,000 workers, unions, civil society, and national and international organizations will celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Workers’ Day, May 1, under the presidency of Samdech Techo Hun Manet.

Phnom Penh: On April 26, 2026, the Royal Government of Cambodia, through the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, will celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Workers’ Day, May 1, 2026, under the chairmanship of His Excellency President Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, with the participation of more than 5,000 international guests, national and international civil society organizations, academic staff associations, unions, and workers at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center.

In 2026, Cambodia has chosen the theme “Together Building Resilience for Decent Work” as the theme to celebrate the important International Workers’ Day on May 1st. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, said that International Labor Day, May 1, is a historic event for workers around the world and has been celebrated by the Royal Government of Cambodia every year since the liberation of Cambodia on January 7, 1979.

For this spokesperson, the choice of topic Together, building resilience for decent work for International Workers’ Day, May 1, 2026, is a testament to the Royal Government’s commitment to promoting resilient and sustainable labor market development based on the principles of improving working conditions, ensuring labor rights and freedom of association, strengthening social protection systems, and promoting social dialogue in order to serve the best interests of workers both inside and outside the system.

The same Ministry of Labor spokesperson added that in tomorrow’s program, the Prime Minister will deliver a message to workers and officials, highlighting the progress of the labor sector and the past achievements of the Royal Government, as well as the future direction for the benefit of workers and the entire sector.
