Phnom Penh: Samdech Thibault Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, said that as a leader, no one is willing to kneel and give up their territory to another country.

On the occasion of celebrating the 19th anniversary of Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Day on May 15, 2026, the Prime Minister emphasized that the heroism of the Cambodian army, who sacrificed their lives, abandoned their wives and children, some of whom had pregnant wives and children, in protecting the territorial integrity of Cambodia, is considered a great honor for the nation. In addition, the sacrifices of the family who supported their husbands to defend the land from the invaders in the past also contributed to helping the motherland.

The Prime Minister added that women who were widowed because their husbands had to sacrifice their lives to defend the land are really suffering because of the loss of their beloved husbands and strong family positions.

The Prime Minister stated, “But as a leader, I believe that 17 million Cambodians will never kneel down and give away their land to others. In 10-20 years, 30 million, 50 million people will increase. We only want to protect our legitimate land according to the method. I believe that the best option is a bloodless method to resolve it in the long term.”

The Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that Cambodia has been calm due to the war for many years, but unfortunately In 2025, the Cambodian people faced another war sparked by the Thai military, which left many soldiers and innocent civilians, young and old, dead and wounded. There were also refugees living in camps who were unable to return to their homes.
