Kampong Thom: While two grandsons are serving on the battlefield to protect the integrity of the country and national peace, only tears and worries remain for 83-year-old grandmother Ieng Sam Ang, a former teacher who is living in poverty, loneliness, and chronic illness without a permanent caregiver.

A former teacher at Trapaing Veng Village Primary School, formerly Srayov Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province, this man devoted half his life to the field of education, teaching generations of students until his retirement in 2004-2005. But in her later years, she had to live a miserable life, without a husband, children, and no assets to rely on.

Currently, the grandmother lives in Por Ta Un village, Srayov commune, Stung Sen city, struggling to survive alone, despite her old age and chronic illnesses. Even the houses and land that he once owned had to be sold to pay for his medical treatment.

On the morning of May 14, 2026, villagers and relatives described with pity that Teacher Ieng Sam Ang’s entire life was spent serving society, but now there was no one to visit him or help him with his difficulties.

Through this promotion, the grandmother hopes that philanthropists, former students, and relevant authorities will sympathize, support, and encourage the elderly former teacher at a time when he is in greatest need of warmth from society.
