Phnom Penh: Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, has instructed expert units that strengthening the health information system is important for building an effective health care system to respond quickly and have sovereignty in expertise.

Such a statement Professor Chheang Ra on May 14, 2026, during a meeting with ministry leaders, heads of units, and relevant technical officers to provide recommendations and guidance in line with the strategy, especially the policy of the Royal Government, and as additional insights in preparing to participate in the 79th World Health Assembly, which will be held from May 18-23, 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Minister stated that by participating in the 79th World Health Assembly, as every year, Cambodia will share experiences, provide advice, and showcase achievements in the Cambodian health sector.

The Minister focused on key topics Featured in the World Health Assembly are: concussion, digital health information systems, health financing sustainability, mental health, and primary health care. In addition, the Cambodian Ministry of Health delegation will participate in important side events, including: the Francophone Meeting, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, bilateral meetings with the World Health Organization for the Western Pacific Region, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Japanese Ministry of Health.

The Minister instructed all relevant officials and stakeholders to continue to pay close attention to preparing clear technical content to demonstrate Cambodia’s commitment to implementing health policies in line with international standards.
