Phnom Penh: The presentation and test drive of modern Russian GAZ vehicles for transporting goods and passengers will take place on May 15 and 16, 2026 at the conference hall of Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel, Phnom Penh, with the support of the Russian Embassy in Cambodia and the Cambodia-Russia Trade Center.

On May 15, 2026, Anatoly Borovik Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Professor Hing Thoraksi, Permanent Secretary of State, represented by Mr. Vangsy Vissoth, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in Charge of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, and representatives of the business community attended the event at the conference hall of the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel, Phnom Penh.

Dr. Hing Thoraksi, Permanent Secretary of State, said that on behalf of the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Cambodia-Russia Business Association (CRTH) and GAZ for working closely together to organize this meaningful event. This is not just a car exhibition, but also a new page in the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, Cambodia and Russia, to be strong and fruitful. As we all know, the relationship between Cambodia and Russia is a long-standing tradition of friendship.
In the new context of globalization, the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the wise and far-sighted leadership of His Excellency Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has launched the “Phase 1 Pentagon Strategy”. In this, promoting economic growth, enhancing competitiveness, and modernizing the transport and logistics system are the most important priorities. GAZ’s decision to enter the Cambodian market now comes at a time when Cambodia is in dire need of highly efficient, affordable and durable means of transportation.
The Permanent Secretary of State said that GAZ vehicles, a product that embodies Russia’s outstanding engineering technology, are recognized worldwide as a strong and most suitable partner for all road and weather conditions. What significance does GAZ’s presence bring to Cambodia? Supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs): Light commercial vehicles are the lifeblood of small businesses. Through the GAZelle NN and Sobol NN, our businessmen will have new options that help reduce operating costs and increase profits. 2. Promoting the logistics sector: Connecting cities to rural areas and transporting agricultural goods will be easier. This is a direct contribution to reducing transportation costs in Cambodia, which is a key factor in attracting investment.
Dr. Hing Thoraksi added that he highly appreciates the Cambodia-Russia Business Association for its efforts to facilitate this event. The role of the association is very important in being a guide and providing confidence to investors. I encourage the association to continue such activities, not only in the automotive sector, but should expand to other potential sectors such as agro-industry, food processing, clean energy and digital sectors, where Russia has experience and high technology.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to call on all businessmen and investors present here to use this platform to discuss, exchange ideas and find opportunities for cooperation. The Royal Government of Cambodia, through the Office of the Council of Ministers and relevant ministries and institutions, is always ready to facilitate and facilitate all investments that benefit the nation and the people.
