More than 4,000 citizens and youth from poor families have gained skills and a decent income after receiving training in the 1.5 million program of the King.

Phnom Penh: More than 4,000 citizens and youth from poor and vulnerable families have received skills from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET 1.5M) program at the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training under the scholarship program of His Excellency Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to the NPIC Institute, from 2024 to the first quarter of 2026, the institute provided scholarships to a total of 4,370 citizens and youth from poor and vulnerable families who registered to study technical skills in the TVET 1.5M program under the scholarship program of His Majesty the King Hun Sen.

NPIC is training 20 trainees under the TVET 1.5M program to improve their professional skills and increase job opportunities for former Cambodian workers returning from Thailand. Among them, there are 6 majors that have the most students interested in enrolling in the institute.

The 6 majors include baking skills, home air conditioning services, beverage business, computer graphic design, car maintenance and repair, Fruit and vegetable processing. These skills are considered to be in line with the needs of the labor market and can create opportunities for quick income, either by working in institutions or starting your own business.

To enroll in this program, targeted youth must meet certain requirements such as being from poor and vulnerable families, being 15 years old or older, having a Cambodian citizenship ID card or birth certificate, and having an equity card (poverty level 1 and poverty level 2) or vulnerable family identification card.
