Major tourism enterprises and famous influencers in Hainan Province applaud Cambodia’s visa exemption for Chinese citizens

Phnom Penh: Major tourism enterprises and famous influencers in Hainan Province have welcomed the visa exemption for Cambodia’s Chinese citizens and vowed to increase the number of Chinese tourists to Cambodia beyond the current 300,000.

During a working visit to promote Cambodia’s tourism potential and investment opportunities in Hainan Province, on May 21, 2026, Mr. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, led a high-ranking Cambodian and private sector delegation to attend a working meeting and promote the campaign to exempt Chinese people from visas and visit Cambodia during the green season with major Chinese enterprises and famous influencers in Hainan Province, led by Mr. Sun Haigui, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, Publications and Sports of Haikou City, Hainan Province, in Haikou City, Hainan Province.

During the discussion, Mr. Sun Haigui thanked the Minister and the high-ranking delegation from both the state and private sectors of Cambodia for their warm welcome and facilitation, and expressed interest in the potential of Cambodia’s tourism sector, especially cultural, historical, natural and hospitality tourism, which can attract more Chinese tourists.

At the same time, the 15 state-owned and private tourism enterprises expressed their deep gratitude and support for the decision of the Royal Government of Cambodia to provide visa exemption for Chinese people to visit and stay in Cambodia for 14 days, which is expected to help attract more Chinese tourists to visit Cambodia during this special green season.

Meanwhile, all enterprises promise to make additional efforts to bring 500,000 Chinese tourists to Cambodia in 2026 through the visa-free program and the green season promotion campaign. It is worth noting that all these tourism enterprises have actively cooperated in bringing more than 300,000 Chinese tourists to Cambodia since 2016.

In response, the Minister praised, highly evaluated and thanked for the good cooperation between Cambodia and China in general and between the Hainan Provincial Administration, Haikou City, and all private sectors. Who actively participated in the development of Cambodia-China tourism with fruits that are worthy of pride.

With the implementation of visa exemption for Chinese people in June and visiting Cambodia during the green season, the Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to ensuring a safe and good environment for Chinese tourists. And internationally, the presence of chartered flights twice a week can really facilitate the travel of Chinese and Cambodian tourists back and forth.

At the same time, the Minister also asked the Chinese side to help promote Cambodia’s attractive tourism potential and investment opportunities, including visa exemptions. To the Chinese people from June 15 to October 15, 2026, to the people of Hainan Province and other regions of China.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed and exchanged in-depth views on strengthening and expanding tourism cooperation through the preparation of special tourism packages, the organization of study tours (FAM Trip) for travel companies, media and travel content producers (Travel Influencers), joint tourism promotion, strengthening cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries and encouraging more Chinese tourists to Cambodia.
