Nearly 800 juvenile convicts transferred to Pursat and Oddar Meanchey provincial prisons to support frontline forces

Phnom Penh: The General Department of Prisons of the Ministry of Interior has transferred 790 juvenile convicts to continue serving their sentences at correctional centers and prisons in Pursat and Oddar Meanchey provinces to support the frontline forces.

According to a press release from the General Department of Prisons of the Ministry of Interior on May 21, 2026, following the high-level recommendations of the Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Prisons has transferred a total of 790 juvenile offenders (males) from correctional centers and prisons in the capital and provinces to serve their sentences at 2 target correctional centers and prisons, including: 1. Correctional Center 4 (Pursat Province): 651. 2. Oddar Meanchey Provincial Prison: 139 people.

The transfer of these juvenile convicts is aimed at increasing their education and rehabilitation through participation in vocational training programs to build their personal skills and for the cause of serving the nation and loving the motherland.

The training programs include agricultural skills such as growing vegetables, raising animals, and construction skills such as pouring trench covers and other concrete structures to support the frontline forces who are standing guard to protect national sovereignty.

The above training programs It will be implemented under close collaboration between agricultural experts and experts in the construction of trench covers.
