The Mekong River Bridge (clay-concrete) construction project has reached 50.8% completion.

Phnom Penh: As of mid-May 2026, the construction of the Mekong River Bridge (clay-stone) project has reached 50.8% completion after the groundbreaking ceremony together with the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway project on June 7, 2023.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the bridge was held under the chairmanship of His Highness Prime Minister Hun Sen, President of the Senate and former Prime Minister of Cambodia, and Mr. Wang Wentian, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia.

It should be noted that the project is located in Kandal Province, across the Mekong River. The road on the west side is in Dei Khret commune, connecting to Xi Jinping Boulevard (City Ring Road No. 3) and National Road No. 1. The road on the east side is in Thma Kor commune, connecting to the planned Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway.

The project has a total length of 3.7 kilometers, including bridges crossing the river and flyovers connecting roads, sewers, and secondary engineering works. The Mekong River Bridge has a total length of 1,600 meters and a width of 26 meters, with lanes for cars, motorcycles and pedestrians, as well as three navigation lanes, each with a safety gap of 110 meters wide and 15 meters high.
