Mondulkiri: Dr. Kao Thach, the Royal Government Delegate in Charge of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) and President of the Techo Farmers Network Association, on May 21, 2026, met with approximately 200 coffee farmers from Pechreada District, Mondulkiri Province.

In the meeting with farmers who grow vegetables, rubber, pepper and coffee, Dr. Kao Thach recommended that in our Mondulkiri province, if you feel that farming, including growing vegetables, pepper and other crops, yields little and sells cheaply, our farmers in this context should focus on coffee crops again because they already have land, because it is a long-term strategic crop in the world with high market demand.

Regarding this coffee investment, Dr. Kao Thach encouraged farmers in Mondulkiri province to seize the opportunity to focus on potential crops, namely coffee crops, because Cambodia only has a 10 percent coffee supply nationwide. Therefore, more investment is needed to meet market demand, especially in Mondulkiri province, where our farmers should bring in more crops to increase their family economy and create local jobs.

For Dr. Kao Thach, he reminded farmers that farming, whether it’s coffee or anything else, requires great skill and dedication. Even though you are tired of agriculture, the important thing is to know how to manage and record production costs per unit to make a profit, because among the four major sectors that support the economy, there is one sector, agriculture, for the national economic model.

After meeting with farmers from several districts in Mondulkiri province this afternoon, Dr. Demkhed and his colleagues visited a coffee plantation to inspect the potential of a local coffee plantation, which is an investment by a local businessman to participate in developing the Cambodian coffee sector in line with the government’s policy to promote the use of Cambodian products and reduce imports.
