Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has instructed the government’s working group at all levels to increase their activity in communicating with farmers and be prepared to help them in times of disaster.
According to a press release on the results of the plenary meeting of the Council of Ministers on May 22, 2026, Prime Minister Hun Sen also instructed the National Disaster Management Committee to continue to closely monitor the provincial and capital governments by identifying safe shelters in case of flooding, as well as taking emergency measures by preparing the necessary forces, means, and materials to conduct timely rescue interventions as necessary.
In addition, the Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology to regularly monitor weather forecasts, especially the development of water levels. And must cooperate with relevant ministries and institutions, as well as the capital and provincial administrations, to intervene in a timely and highly effective manner, while the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and relevant ministries and institutions must prepare food and necessary materials in case of major impacts that cause damage to people’s crops that need to be restored.
