Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged the Ministry of Health to continue to prepare for and contain the outbreak of Ebola and Hantavirus, even though Cambodia has not yet detected any cases of these diseases.

This is according to a press release on the results of the plenary meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Prime Minister Hun Sen on May 22, 2026.

The Prime Minister added that at the same time, relevant ministries and institutions must cooperate with the Ministry of Health in continuing to strengthen monitoring measures and raising awareness among the public, and must ensure that all prevention and response mechanisms are ready, even though Cambodia has not yet detected any cases of these diseases.

At the same time, the King said that relevant ministries and institutions must continue to educate and inspire citizens through educational video platforms so that they understand the importance of cooperation, such as giving priority to ambulances and participating in following the instructions of the authorities, which is a responsible participation in saving citizens’ lives.
