The Ministry of National Defense said that according to information received from the 4th Military Region of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, on the morning of May 24, 2026, from 9:24 to 10:10, there was a sound of 22 rounds of gunfire at the O Smach International Border Crossing in Oddar Meanchey Province, Cambodian territory that is being illegally occupied by the Thai military.
Regarding this case, the liaison team of the 4th Military Region of Cambodia has sent a letter of protest to the liaison team of the 2nd Thai Army to verify the incident. and strictly enforce its military discipline measures and fully respect the joint declaration of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025.
