Khmer Ambassador meets with SUNY University leaders to discuss education

Phnom Penh: Mr. Khuon Phonrattanak, Ambassador of Cambodia to the Republic of Korea, received a courtesy call and discussed work with Mr. Eugene Pak, Dean of External Relations of the State University of New York (SUNY), focusing on the education sector.

SUNY University is located in Incheon, South Korea.

The two sides exchanged views on the possibility of establishing cooperation in the field of education between the university and the embassy. Mr. Pak also informed His Excellency the Ambassador about the university’s scholarship program and its intention to provide scholarships at all levels of study, such as bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, to highly qualified and visionary Cambodian students who come to study at the university in technology majors, who will receive the same quality of education and degrees as those studied in the United States.

In response The Ambassador welcomed the above initiative and promised to forward information on the scholarship to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia for promotion and recruitment of Cambodian students.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Ambassador also spoke about the Pentagon Strategy, Phase 1, of the 7th Mandate of the Royal Government of Cambodia Focusing on human resource development as a top priority, it aligns with SUNY’s initiative to provide scholarships to students from developing countries such as Cambodia and to students with financial need to study abroad.
