Angry at his wife’s refusal to return the favor, a man poured gasoline on the woman and set her on fire, causing serious burns. He was arrested by the Kampong Speu Provincial Military Police and sent to the First District Court.

Kampong Speu: Following the strict orders of Brigadier General Meng Srun, Commander of the Kampong Speu Provincial Military Police, the Kampong Speu Provincial Military Police has arrested a suspect in connection with the attempted murder (using gasoline to set his wife on fire) and illegal possession and trafficking of drugs.

The incident occurred at 20:40 on May 20, 2026 at Prey Boeung Village, Kraing Chek Commune, Samaki Monichey District, Kampong Speu Province. The suspect poured gasoline on his wife and set her on fire, causing serious burns and was sent to Kampong Speu Provincial Hospital for treatment by relatives. The reason was because he was angry with his wife for not wanting to live together as a husband and wife. 

The suspect is named Kim Ratha, a 32-year-old male farmer, currently residing in Prey Boeung village, Kraing Chek commune, Samak Monichey district, Kampong Speu province, while the victim is named Phuong Chanthou, a 31-year-old female, currently residing in Prey Boeung village, Kraing Chek commune, Samak Monichey district, Kampong Speu province.

The evidence seized included: 1 iron, 1 package of white and transparent gram, 1 purple iPhone 14 Pro max, and 1 glass used for smoking drugs.

Currently, the above suspects and evidence have been prepared by the Kampong Speu Provincial Military Police, who have prepared a case and sent it to the Kampong Speu Provincial Court for legal action.
