Phnom Penh: After a heated debate, the case of a complaint against a teacher who worked part-time for disturbing neighbors was resolved by the authorities on the morning of June 1.

According to a statement from the Kambol District Administration on June 1, several Facebook and TikTok accounts and pages recently posted an invitation letter dated May 27, 2026 from the Kambol District Administration inviting Chan Sophea, a part-time teacher, to attend a meeting to resolve the request for intervention by Leng Dara and Ly Sokchea in the case of a school opening that disturbed the lives of residents in Pong Village, Sangkat Sno, Kambol District, Phnom Penh.

Regarding this announcement, the Kambol District Administration stated that on the morning of June 1, Mr. Khim Sun Soda The Kambol District Governor led a team to inspect the site and led a mediation meeting at the actual site. Through the inspection of the actual site, it was found that the above location is a flat where after-school classes are held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and is adjacent to the house of Leng Dara. Based on the statements of Ly Sokchea and Leng Dara, the plaintiffs.

The letter confirms that the complaint is not intended to request the closure of the after-school classes, but only to request that certain points be adjusted that interfere with daily life. In the past, students who came to study parked their motorbikes in disorder, and students who studied at the next school hour often played ball and rode motorbikes back and forth, which could eventually cause accidents. At the same time, Leng Dara has a chronic illness and an elderly mother at home, and teaching often involves dragging tables and chairs, causing noise.

Based on the mediation of Mr. Khim Sunsoda, the parties agreed to abide by five principles: Chan Sophea (teacher) will adjust the parking area for bicycles and motorbikes and instruct students to be in good order, adjust the noise inside so as not to disturb them, instruct students to return home quickly after school, ask neighbors to be understanding and tolerant, and become good neighbors. The commune and village authorities must monitor the activities of students who come to school.
