Phnom Penh: Mr. Pen Bona, spokesman for the Royal Government, said that the Royal Government of Cambodia always pays great attention to providing humanitarian assistance and emergency relief to children and families affected by the Thai military invasion.
Mr. Pen Bona’s remarks come as Cambodia celebrates the 77th anniversary of International Children’s Day on June 1, the 25th anniversary of World Day Against Child Labor, June 12, and Cambodian Children’s Day.
In a statement on the Cambodia-Thailand border situation on June 1, 2026, Mr. Pen Bona said that currently there are nearly 30,000 refugees who have not been able to return to their homes, most of whom are women and children.
He said the Royal Government has taken every care of them by providing them with suitable temporary shelter and helping to meet their basic needs, including their children’s education.
The spokesman emphasized that “The Royal Government has always paid great attention to providing humanitarian assistance and emergency relief to children and families affected by the Thai military aggression along the border to ensure that infants, young children, students, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities receive safety, food, health services, and children can continue their education despite the difficult circumstances of displacement.”
According to Mr. Pen Bona, Cambodia currently enjoys peace, political stability, public order, good infrastructure, and development in all sectors. The care and protection of children is an obligation that requires multi-sectoral collaboration to jointly address the challenges facing children.
