Phnom Penh: On Monday, June 1, 2026, Mr. Soung Heng, Secretary of State and Project Director, inspected the implementation of the project to build a bridge across the Bassac River (Chak Angre Krom-Prek Pra) and complete the transportation of the bridge beams from the west to the east side, which as of the end of May 2026 has been 73% completed after the construction site was opened on February 19, 2024.

Project progress includes: 1). Bridge foundation section 100% complete 2). Bridge substructure 100% complete 3). Bridge superstructure 100% complete 4). The superstructure of the main bridge is 67.30% complete (49 right-hand box girders, 36 wheels complete, and 49 left-hand box girders, 30 wheels complete) and 5). The road network is 48.4% complete (804.30m long connection, 50% complete, and 1.54m long Ram road, 46%).

The transportation of 96 bridge beams from the west side to the east side has been completed and concrete is being poured to connect the bridge faces. The evaluation team commended the Shanghai Construction Company for carrying out the completed and ongoing work in accordance with the technical standards and technical contracts, with quality and aesthetics.

The project management unit continues to strengthen work safety as the rainy season begins and continues to maintain And add safety airbags on the water for the safety of water transport users.
Please note that the Bassac River Bridge (Chak Angre Krom-Prek Pra) is the 7th bridge along the Bassac River after the 6 bridges already built, including: Koh Pich, Koh Nora Bridge, the two Preah Monivong Bridges, Samrong Bridge, Koh Anlong Chen Bridge, and Koh Thom Bridge.
