Pursat: The ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) observed, verified and reported on the border situation in Area 1 in Thma Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province, and reviewed the respect and implementation of all measures in the joint declaration after the ceasefire came into effect.

In a press release, the spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia said, “On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 09:25 am, the Coordination Group (CLG) of the Kingdom of Cambodia coordinated with the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) led by the Head of Mission of the ASEAN Observer Team (HOM AOT) of the Philippines to observe, verify and report on the border situation in Area 1, Thma Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province, to review the respect and implementation of all measures in the Joint Declaration after the ceasefire came into effect.”

Cambodia has always provided full support to the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and stressed the indispensable importance of strengthening the role and mandate of the AOT to verify and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire as well as the measures agreed between Cambodia and Thailand, aiming to promote transparency, accountability and mutual trust, and always welcomes friendly countries that are willing to further assist in this task.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia would like to affirm their firm, sincere, and honest commitment to fully and steadfastly respect and implement the Joint Declaration of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thai General Border Committee (GBC) of December 27, 2025, the Joint Statement on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand of October 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements, in order to achieve rapid recovery and a return to normalcy, peace, stability, and security for the people living along the border areas of the two countries.
