Cambodia-Vietnam continue to strengthen and expand relations and cooperation between the two countries

Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of June 8, 2026, His Excellency Prime Minister Hun Sen paid a courtesy call and held working discussions with Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, as the two sides continued to strengthen and expand relations and cooperation between the two countries.

President Hun Sen met with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) to be held on June 8-9, 2026 in Hanoi.

During the meeting, the President of the National Assembly expressed high appreciation for Cambodia’s dynamic development and achievements in all sectors and believed that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Cambodia will continue to achieve successful results and develop more vigorously. 

Mr. He also expressed support for the consensus between the two governments to further deepen bilateral cooperation, noting that the Vietnamese side continues to promote the implementation of agreements reached by the two countries’ top leaders in the past, and expressed optimism that Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation will continue to be further enhanced. 

Mr. The President of the National Assembly also expressed his satisfaction with the excellent relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries and emphasized the need to continue to strengthen cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, both in bilateral and international frameworks.

In response, the President expressed his appreciation and high appreciation for the progress of Vietnam’s socio-economic development and believed that Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese Government, Vietnam will achieve both Millennium Development Goals by 2030 and 2045.

 At the same time, the President also expressed satisfaction with the excellent cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries through the exchange of visits at all levels. and frequent meetings between the leaders of the legislative bodies, both in bilateral and international forums, which have significantly contributed to deepening and promoting relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The President and the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam also discussed and exchanged views on further strengthening and expanding relations and cooperation between the two countries in key areas, including: economy, trade and investment, politics, national security and defense, education and vocational training, tourism, culture, and infrastructure connectivity, especially the connection between the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh-Moc Bai Expressway, water travel connections, and further expanding flights between the two countries. 

The President and the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam agreed that the two countries still have many potentials and opportunities. Which can complement and support each other to promote economic and trade development that benefits both countries and peoples.
