Phnom Penh: On the occasion of presiding over the “Say No to Fake News” campaign, Step 2, on the morning of June 8, 2026, at Toul Ampil High School, Mr. Tep Asnarith, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Information, called on the students of Toul Ampil High School and all young people not to be just viewers on social media or fall victim to the sharing of fake news, but to work together as “active digital evangelists” for information security in society.

The Undersecretary of State explained: “This fake news is no different from a “vicious virus”. It is silently deceiving, destroying and harassing information security as well as the order of our entire society.”

To combat this dangerous virus of fake news, the “Say No to Fake News” Phase 2 campaign is being conducted with the aim of strengthening information and media literacy among our youth. This knowledge training is like providing a vaccine to build resilience in the fight against and eliminate all the viruses of fake news that are polluting digital society.

The Undersecretary of State added that as the new generation of Cambodian youth who have been vaccinated, we must not allow ourselves to become victims of such harmful propaganda. We must use social media responsibly. His Excellency urged the youth to participate in the promotion of information literacy to all members of the community to create a strong shield to prevent the spread of this fake news virus from destroying security, order and peace in society.

In this regard, Mr. Tep Asnarith encouraged the participation of young students “Information literacy is a vaccine for self-defense! Join as an active digital evangelist to protect yourself, your family, and the entire national society.” With the simplest implementation, young people must adhere to the principle of “3 Dos, 1 Protect”:
• When seeing strange information… stop and think! Don’t immediately believe it based on your feelings or emotions.
• Uncertain sources… don’t share it! If you haven’t verified it, don’t contribute to spreading the virus.
• When using social media… don’t be careless! Always be cautious about all incoming information. Do not click on links that are strange or overly attractive.
