Phnom Penh: Mr. Steven Pang Chee Wee, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia, was invited to meet and discuss with Dr. Kao Thach, the Royal Government Delegate in Charge of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), on examining the feasibility of promoting the Cambodian Agro-Processing Industry and cooperation in promoting agricultural exports to Singapore on 2 July 2026 at the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) headquarters.

During this important meeting, Dr. Kao Thach shared an update on Cambodia’s agro-processing industry, focusing on five strategic crops: rice, cashew, cassava, red corn, and mango.

The doctor also emphasized the potential for investment in the agro-processing industry, namely that Cambodia currently has the capacity to produce these five strategic agricultural products in appropriate and sufficient quantities to supply processing enterprises for export.

In addition to updating Cambodia’s strategic crops, Dr. Ban also shared information on the agricultural production value chain of these five strategic crops, as well as the production value chain of safe vegetables grown in greenhouses and fruits, and the role of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) in supporting the upstream to downstream agricultural production chain.

In response, Steven Pang Chee Wee expressed a positive view on examining the possibility of promoting the Cambodian agro-processing industry and collaborating to promote agricultural exports to Singapore, and continuing to share information about the potential of Cambodian agricultural products with Singaporean investors and the people of Singapore.

As a first step, the safe vegetable and fruit sector will be given priority, which has less complicated standard inspection, such as meat and aquaculture products.
