Planting trees during the rainy season is to create a natural shield, help absorb greenhouse gases, purify the air and strengthen Cambodia’s resilience against the El Niño phenomenon. This year’s rainy season, the O’Raing Ov district administration plans to plant approximately 10,000 trees at local and roadside locations.

In O’Raing Ov district, Tbong Khmum province, the Ministry of Environment has established a large regional tree nursery with the capacity to grow more than 1 million mixed tree seedlings (including ornamental trees, fruit trees, and palm trees) for the public and local administration to plant free of charge.

In addition Tree planting increases community income: Planting trees will help increase forest cover, enhance the beauty of communities, which can allow Cambodia to attract tourists and investors to generate revenue for infrastructure development and improve the livelihoods of citizens.

Please note that from July 10 to 13, 2026, the Ministry of Environment organized a national campaign Distribute 5 million saplings to the public for free to ensure more trees are planted towards a carbon-neutral country by 2050.
