Phnom Penh: Mr. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, has requested the Japanese side, through Ambassador UENO Atsushi, to continue to help promote Cambodia’s tourism potential and facilitate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation between the two countries, as well as continue to expand flight connections between Japan and Cambodia.
Mr. Huot Hak’s proposal was made during a meeting with Mr. UENO Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, to bid farewell on the occasion of the end of the diplomatic mission’s mandate in Cambodia on July 9, 2026, on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism.
Taking advantage of this meeting, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the close cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of Tourism in the past and affirmed his continued support for strengthening and expanding cooperation between the two countries, especially in the tourism sector, human resource development, tourism promotion, and people-to-people exchanges. The Ambassador also proposed to examine the feasibility of visa exemption for Japanese tourists visiting Cambodia.
