Phnom Penh: The Cambodian Mine Action Authority and the Embassy of India in Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement a Quick Impact Project on mine clearance in Mol village, Rokat commune, Phnom Kravanh district, Pursat province on 27 July 2026 at the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ly Thuj, Senior Minister and First Deputy Director of the Cambodian Mine Action Authority, said that the friendship between Cambodia and India has a long history and has been strengthened through practical cooperation, including in the field of humanitarian mine action to transform previously dangerous lands into safe lands for citizens.
The Senior Minister thanked the government and people of India for continuing to stand with Cambodia by supporting the mine action sector, starting with the mine clearance project in Botum Sakor district, Koh Kong province Continuing to Mondul Seima district and now in Pursat province, this support has contributed to restoring safe land for the people and accelerating community development.
The Senior Minister also highlighted that India’s support has not only contributed to mine clearance but has also helped restore hope and dignity to mine victims through the India for Humanity initiative, which has provided prosthetic legs to 650 Cambodians.
The Senior Minister confirmed that the project in Mal village has provided over 16 hectares of safe land to the people through the Mine-Free Village mechanism, which will allow the people to use the land, earn a living and build a safe future.
