Phnom Penh: The Agreement to Continue Cooperation to Implement the Country Planning Framework 2026-2028 between the Ministry of Environment and the Global Green Development Institute (GGGI) was signed by Dr. Eang Sophallet, Minister of Environment, and Mr. Sang-Hyup Kim, Executive Director of the GGGI Institute, on the afternoon of July 28, 2026 at the Ministry of Environment.
The plan focuses on collaboration to jointly promote concrete actions towards green economic growth, expanding greenness through the effective protection of natural resources and the environment in Cambodia, especially on responding to climate change, in full compliance with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, in order to achieve the strategic goal of making Cambodia a carbon neutral country by 2050.
Dr. Eang Sophallet expressed his deep gratitude to the GGGI Institute for affirming its strong commitment to continue strengthening and expanding close cooperation with the Ministry of Environment to contribute to making Cambodia cleaner, greener, and more sustainable, and to building resilience and climate change response of the people and Cambodia. The Minister stated that strengthening and expanding cooperation on environmental work contributes significantly to sustainable development in Cambodia.
On the occasion, Mr. Sang-Hyup Kim expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s leadership in advancing Cambodia’s environmental vision towards carbon neutrality by 2050.
