Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation of Cambodia recently organized World Accreditation Day 2026 under the theme “Innovation, Confidence and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation” to raise awareness about the role of accreditation and conformity assessment in driving innovation, strengthening market confidence and supporting sustainable development.

World Accreditation Day 2026 was initiated by Global ACI, a new global organization resulting from the merger of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), to promote awareness of the importance of accreditation and conformity assessment in ensuring the quality, safety and competitiveness of goods and services in national and international markets.

Accreditation is the foundation for the recognition of test results, inspections, certification, verification and validation, which helps reduce technical barriers to trade and supports the implementation of Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) by implementing the principle of “test once, recognize everywhere”.

Speaking on the day, Mr. Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation and Chairman of the National Council for Accreditation of Cambodia, said, “In the context of the digital economy and new-generation industries, accreditation is a powerful strategic tool to support management and technical work in key areas such as promoting and supporting innovation, building market confidence, ensuring sustainability and green development.”

The Minister added that Market confidence is built on a National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) system that adheres to the 3C approach of Competency, Compliance, and Confidence to ensure that products and services are of high quality, safe, and competitive in the international market.
