Phnom Penh: Mr. Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, recently met with a delegation from the Republic of Korea, led by Dr. Jae-Cheon You, Senior Advisor to the KSP Project, to review the progress of developing a digital industrial waste management system for Cambodia and discuss the next steps for the project.
During the meeting, the Korean delegation shared the results of the project implementation, including an assessment of Cambodia’s current industrial waste management system, key challenges in digitalization, and recommendations for the development of this digital system to strengthen Cambodia’s industrial waste management.
Mr. Hem Vandy welcomed the collaboration between the ministry and the Korea Development Institute (KDI), the project implementing agency, saying that digital transformation, strengthening data governance, and embracing digital solutions is a necessary factor for enhancing industrial productivity, environmental governance and industrial competitiveness.
He added that the successful implementation of a digital industrial waste management system will rely on close coordination across the industrial waste management value chain, which requires strong cooperation between relevant ministries, such as the Ministry of Environment, and other relevant service providers.
