Phnom Penh: The ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH) on the morning of August 6, observed, verified and reported at the northern village of Srem, Srem commune, Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province, which is a village inhabited by innocent civilians.

According to a press release from the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, the above location is not a military location, but a home of innocent civilians living there, which was attacked by Thai military forces in December 2025 by bombing from F-16 fighter jets and firing several 155mm shells, causing extensive destruction and damage to homes, property, and civilian infrastructure.

At the same time, Cambodia has always provided full support to the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and stressed the indispensable importance of strengthening the role and mandate of the AOT to verify and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire, aiming to promote transparency, accountability and mutual trust.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia continue to be firmly, sincerely, and responsibly committed to fully and steadfastly respecting and implementing the Joint Declaration of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thai General Boundary Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Statement on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements in order to move towards a speedy recovery and a return to normalcy, peace, and lasting stability.
