On 26 October 2026, the Singapore Embassy in Phnom Penh hosted a ceremony to congratulate two Cambodian recipients of the Academic Year 2027 ASEAN Scholarship and their families.

The ASEAN Scholarship, offered by Singapore’s Ministry of Education, provides outstanding students from ASEAN countries with the opportunity to pursue their secondary and pre-university education in Singapore. The four-year scholarship leads to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level certificate or a similar qualification. This year’s recipients are Sa Sokritthi and Sok Moniketsya.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Steven Pang congratulated the two scholars on their achievements, noting that their selection through a rigorous process reflected their hard work and academic potential. He also acknowledged the important role of their families and teachers in supporting their education.

Ambassador Pang highlighted Singapore’s longstanding belief in investing in people, which has been central to the country’s development and underpins its cooperation with Cambodia in education and human resource development. He encouraged the scholars to make the most of their time in Singapore, both through their studies and by experiencing its multicultural society and building friendships with students from different backgrounds. He noted that the friendship between Singapore and Cambodia is sustained not only through cooperation between governments, but also through the personal connections built over time. The friendships and shared experiences of young people, including ASEAN scholars, can help strengthen these connections for generations to come.

The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was H.E. Dr Sann Vathana, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, who also delivered remarks. H.E. Bann Sokvibol, Deputy Director General of the General Department of ASEAN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was also present.
