Phnom Penh: Mr. Khuon Phonrathana, the Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, brought a humanitarian fund of 20,000 USD from the Khmer community in Korea, which was organized into food packages and essential supplies, to personally distribute to 367 refugee families and war hero families, totaling 1,076 people, at the Safety Center of Wat Prasat Botum Moang, Srei Snam District, Siem Reap Province, on March 1, 2026.

The food and supplies distribution event was attended by Mr. Heng Sarith, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Mr. Ly Sari, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province; Mr. Lot Nhean, Deputy Governor of Srei Snam District; as well as representatives of the Khmer community in Korea.

This fund was initiated by the Cambodian Embassy in Korea with financial contributions from the Khmer community living, working, and studying in Korea, aiming to alleviate the burden of the government and to help reduce the hardships of refugees and war hero families who were displaced from the border areas and forced to leave their homes due to the Thai invasion war.

At the humanitarian donation event, the Ambassador stated that although this assistance cannot fully meet the needs and hardships of the refugees, it demonstrates the spirit of unity, patriotism, care, protection, peace, sovereignty, and territorial integrity as one Khmer citizen, even though they are far from their homeland. Their hearts still long for their birthplace and always want to contribute to the national and homeland causes forever.
