Phnom Penh: Mr. Pen Bona, spokesperson for the Royal Government, stated that the Prime Minister of Cambodia is highly concerned about Khmer citizens and students currently in countries experiencing war between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
In a statement regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation on March 2, 2026, Mr. Pen Bona said that the government, led by Samdech Techo Hun Manet as Prime Minister, is highly concerned about Khmer citizens and students in countries at war in the Middle East and has called on the conflicting parties to exercise maximum restraint.

He said, “All Cambodian embassies responsible for relations with countries in the Middle East have been instructed to notify all Khmer citizens and students to be cautious and provide contact numbers to facilitate coordination in case of emergencies.”
The spokesperson added that the Cambodian embassies in Turkey and Kuwait have issued appeals to all Khmer students and citizens to be cautious and maintain regular contact with student group leaders, advising them to stay vigilant about personal safety and always be prepared in case of emergencies by following the instructions of the authorities in the countries where they reside.

He further affirmed that the Cambodian leadership, including Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime minister of Cambodia, is closely monitoring this issue. So far, there is no information about Khmer people suffering from this war.

It is noted that in Israel, there are a total of 239 Khmer students studying there, including 153 students from the Royal University of Agriculture and 86 students from Prek Leap Agricultural School. In Kuwait, there are 27 Khmer students. Additionally, some Khmer citizens are residing, working, or traveling for leisure in Middle Eastern countries as well.
