Phnom Penh: His Excellency Minister Hout Hak stated that the Phnom Penh–Takeo cycling event, covering a distance of 78 kilometers, is a sports tourism event that connects culture and tourism with the land. It attracted cyclists, sports enthusiasts, and citizens who love cycling, both domestic and international guests, totaling about 1,000 people, exceeding expectations.

Minister of Tourism Hout Hak and the wife, together with the Governor of Takeo Province, on March 8, 2026, presided over the “Phnom Penh–Takeo” cycling event covering 78 kilometers under the theme “Tourism Growth in Peace.” The event was organized to celebrate the 115th International Women’s Day on March 8 under the theme “Peace and Security for Women and Families,” to promote domestic tourism, especially attracting tourists to potential tourist areas in Takeo Province, demonstrating national unity, strong internal solidarity, and participation in humanitarian activities through providing educational materials to disadvantaged students.

This cycling event was attended by leaders from the Ministry of Tourism, business representatives from the tourism industry and private sector, younger siblings and nephews who are content creators, influencers, KOLs, athletes, the general public, as well as about 1,000 domestic and international tourists.

On this bright and joyful occasion, the Minister emphasized that peace is a fundamental foundation for the development of the tourism sector and the national economy. Especially, this cycling event is part of promoting tourism potential between Phnom Penh and Takeo Province, as well as enhancing travel that is comfortable and environmentally friendly.

Additionally, the Minister stated that this excellent sports tourism event contributes to improving public health, raising awareness about the importance of exercise, demonstrating unity and solidarity among citizens in supporting the tourism sector and national development, encouraging community participation in social activities, and providing encouragement for women’s participation in social activities, sports, and tourism sectors.
