Phnom Penh: The spokesperson of the Royal Government, Mr. Pen Bona, stated that the Royal Government and the leadership, including Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the National Assembly, and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister, continue to pay great attention to frontline veterans and refugee citizens.

In a statement regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation on March 9, Mr. Pen Bona mentioned that refugee citizens who can return home have been facilitated by ministries, institutions, and relevant authorities to return home continuously by striving to resolve the various challenges they face, as well as helping to restore their livelihoods.

He added that so far, nearly 93% of the refugees, out of more than 640,000 total refugees, have returned home. There remain more than 45,000 refugees who have not yet been able to return home. However, they still receive significant attention from the Royal Government regarding their living conditions, environment, and welfare.

The spokesperson clarified, “Specifically, they have received temporary shelters with appropriate conditions to stay during the time the Royal Government is striving to resolve the border issues with the Thai side through diplomatic means to clearly define the border demarcation line between the two countries according to international law principles, which will allow them to return home in the future.”

The Royal Government spokesperson reiterated that in the spirit of loving peace and respecting international law, Cambodia strictly respects the ceasefire and all points of the joint declaration dated December 27, 2025, as well as other agreements that have been mutually agreed upon.
