Phnom Penh: Cambodia welcomes Malaysia’s deployment of two rotating generals to join the ASEAN Observation Team (AOT) stationed in the Kingdom of Cambodia to observe, verify, and ensure the effective implementation of all measures outlined in the joint statement.

According to a press release, Ms. Major General Mali Sochata, spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, informed the public, national and international media that “On the afternoon of March 27, 2026, at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, Siem Reap Province, the Coordination Liaison Group (CLG) of the Kingdom of Cambodia warmly welcomed Malaysia’s deployment of two rotating generals (Lieutenant Colonel MOHD AMIN BIN BAHAROM and Lieutenant Colonel MOHD ERRY BIN DUL TLDM) to join the ASEAN Observation Team (AOT) stationed in Cambodia, led by the Philippines as ASEAN Chair, to observe, verify, and ensure the effective implementation of all measures in the joint statement.”

Cambodia consistently provides strong support to the ASEAN Observation Team (AOT) and emphasizes the indispensable importance of strengthening the role and mandate of the AOT to verify and ensure the implementation of the ceasefire and other agreed measures between Cambodia and Thailand fully and effectively, aiming to enhance transparency, accountability, and mutual trust, and always welcomes friendly countries willing to participate and assist further in this mission.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia have affirmed their firm, sincere, and highly responsible commitment to fully and strictly respect and implement the joint statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the joint statement on the peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and other related agreements, to swiftly improve and restore normalcy, peace, and long-term stability.
