Ministry launches pilot use of application for vehicle technical inspection validity extension via partner banks

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has launched a pilot program for submitting applications to extend the validity of vehicle technical inspections (Chiek) through partner banks starting from April 1, 2026.

According to the announcement from the Ministry of Public Works, this application submission is an additional option to bring services closer to the public, save time, and provide convenience in applying for the extension of vehicle technical inspection validity through the Ministry’s partner banks.

The Ministry explained that after completing the application process and payment, citizens can take their vehicles to the “Online Gate” of the Vehicle Technical Inspection Center (with required documents attached) to continue the inspection procedure and receive the technical inspection certificate and report.

At the same time, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport clarified that “this application submission is only for family-type vehicles.”
