Foreign Affairs: Xinhua News Agency reported today that US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that the US Navy will begin blocking ships attempting to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz after peace talks with Iran failed to produce a deal.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social that “effective immediately, the US Navy, the best navy in the world, will begin blocking any and all ships attempting to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz.”
I have also instructed our Navy to search for and block any ships in international waters that have paid Iran for their services, adding that “no one who pays illegal services will have safe passage on the high seas.”
He added: “We will also start removing the mines that the Iranians have placed in the strait.”
At the peace talks, Trump said the meeting went well, with most of the points agreed upon, but the only point that really matters is nuclear.
Trump’s remarks came hours after talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan, ended without an agreement on Sunday.
