More than 4,000 Cambodian workers and communities in South Korea come together to organize a Songkran program to celebrate the traditional Cambodian New Year.

Republic of Korea: On April 12, 2026, over 4,000 Cambodian workers and communities in South Korea jointly organized a New Year’s Eve program to celebrate the traditional Khmer New Year in two areas, including the Khmer Phasan Temple in Phasan City, Gyeonggi Province, and the Changwon Area, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, Republic of Korea.

This program is designed to promote Khmer traditions and customs internationally as well as in South Korea and to celebrate the Khmer New Year, the year of the Monkey, 2570 B.E. 2026. The program also includes religious ceremonies to pray and dedicate merit to the souls of Cambodian soldiers who sacrificed themselves in the cause of defending the homeland from the invasion of neighboring countries, and folk games and dances.

The program is supported by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training The Cambodian Embassy in South Korea, Wat Khmer Fa Sang, the Khmer Association for Helping Khmer Chhangwon, and thousands of Cambodian communities were present, including Mr. Seng Sakda, Secretary of State, representing Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, and Mr. Khuon Phon Rattanak, Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, and Mrs. also presided.
